Frequently Asked Illustration Questions

Who may use your illustrations?

All media, especially publishing and web development. My illustrated work is especially suited for editorial support, spot illustration, as well as advertising.

What kind of illustration media will you use for illustrations?

All illustration artwork is rendered in Photoshop.

How do I request an illustration?

Please contact Andrius Balukas via email or phone to begin.

My first step will be discussing your initial ideas for your assignment. If you have a particular written article you plan publish, please arrange to submit it to me. You may either fax or email your manuscript as a PDF document. I will contact you regarding your ideas and concepts for development.

Please include the following:
  1. Your format file (Depending whether you plan to publish in print, as a photograph or on a website, we can discuss and choose the best format for your needs: JPG, TIFF, or custom.)

  2. What size constraints your publication intends.

  3. If you know, indicate the color you plan to use: four-color CYMK, RGB, duotone, grayscale, black and white, or custom. We will discuss your color options if you are not sure.

  4. Very important: your actual press deadline for a delivered, finished assignment.

After we discuss the type, time and production, a cost and delivery estimate will be given. Your initial deposit acts as your signoff, which begins the sketching process. Work will then be submitted through your designated email or computer site.

After you are satisfied with the illustration sketch, detail work then will then complete your order and immediate delivery.

How long does an illustration take to be completed?

The actual illustration time may surprise you: the first sketch can usually be drafted out within one day, and may be completed entirely within a week. More complex image assignments can be finished less than a few weeks. Research and development of the concept usually takes the most time.

What about changes?

We aim to clarify everything from the start, however changes inevitably do occur. Please notify me, in email, as soon as possible as they may cause a deadline delay. Please note that there will be new charges added.
